You don't have to be strong every minute. You don't have to have the right words. And you don't have to pretend that everything is fine. Losing someone you love can leave you feeling like the world has suddenly changed. When people ask "How are you?" you might automatically answer "I'm okay." But perhaps you're not. And that's okay.
Grief Doesn't Have a Right Way
Everyone experiences loss differently. Some people cry constantly; others barely cry at all. Some want to talk; others need silence. None of this means you're grieving incorrectly. There is no instruction manual for grief.
You Don't Have to Be Strong for Everyone
Being strong doesn't mean hiding your emotions. Sometimes strength means admitting "This hurts." Sometimes it means asking someone for help, or taking a quiet moment alone.
There Is No Deadline for Healing
Healing doesn't mean forgetting the person. Months or years later, a song or smell may bring back a sharp memory. That doesn't mean you're stuck — it simply means that person mattered deeply.
Remember That Happiness Is Not Betrayal
You are allowed to laugh and experience good days again. Enjoying life doesn't mean you loved them any less. Your loved one's memory does not require you to remain unhappy forever.
